When a marriage is not working, it is sometimes the best option to move on. While divorce is not typically pleasant, it does not have to be ugly, either. At the end of a marriage, if both spouses can agree to an amicable divorce, the entire process can be quite streamlined and efficient. Child custody issues can complicate circumstances among divorcing parties, although it is usually in a child's best interest for parents to get along.
While amicable divorces are not always easy to have, they are rarer still when the couple is famous. Nonetheless, our Florham Park readers may be interested to know that Skinnygirl mogul Bethenny Frankel and her husband of nearly three years, Jason Hoppy, are reportedly going through an amicable divorce.
In a recent statement, the "Real Housewives of New York" star announced that she and her soon-to-be ex respect each other and plan to co-parent their 2-year-old daughter. The two have been married since 2010. RadarOnline reports that the couple has a prenuptial agreement. According to Forbes, Frankel is worth about $12 million.
Prenuptial agreements can make some high-asset divorces go more smoothly, as most prenuptial documents clearly define property division and asset distribution and even child custody. This can be useful if emotions are running high when a marriage grinds to a halt. Having an agreement in place, in some instances, can help to keep the parties involved interacting in a civil manner, which will benefit all involved.
